While many were focusing on fuel prices and the Naira, a lot was going on in the health sector. Here is a snippet of what has been done. 22.03 million Nigerians on Health Insurance
It took 20 years to reach 5% under NHIS. It took only about 4 years under the new NHIA law to hit 22 million. That’s +35% year-on-year growth.
Hospital payments to providers are also up 93%. Fee-for-service reimbursement is up 378% - the first review in 12 years. Now hospitals actually want to see NHIA cards.2. 3,000+ Primary Health Centers Upgraded
As of April 2026, over 3,000 PHCs have been upgraded to Level 2. That’s a 59% jump.
What does Level 2 mean? Deliveries, labs, stocked pharmacies, water, light, and 24-hour care in our local governments, not just Abuja.3. 1.2 million Children Vaccinated Against Malaria
Children in Kebbi, Bayelsa, Bauchi and Ondo have received the R21 malaria vaccine.
Interestingly, Kebbi State hospital records show Malaria cases have gone down 50% in ten months. The Point:
Nobody held a rally for this. Nobody ran an advert. It was rarely reported, but what matters most is that it got done. You can doubt the government. You can doubt the politics. But you cannot doubt the Data.
